Kind of a challenging vehicle to mount an HF antenna on. Nice to see you came up with a workable solution. 73 Nels K1UR

One thing to consider in using the spare tire carrier for the mount is how often you're going to be opening that door. On my Wrangler I just have two relatively small VHF whips mounted that way and even those are kind of a nuisance at times...a big…

I guess the discussion needs to start with whether you are willing to drill holes or not :-)

Actually, the roof rack makes a great mounting point. That's where my VHF antennas are mounted.

Interesting that you can have the same plate on different vehicles. I would think that would screw up the state's registration system. What happens when the police run the plate?

Nicely done. Larsen antennas are so flexible you may not need to worry about it hitting trees. I hit trees with mine quite often just driving around and even drove the truck under my deck once (where I store it) and bent the antenna over 90 degrees…

Gee, that brings back memories...this kind of racing was a big thing around here for a while, but that was about 20 years ago. It sure was fun.

I wonder if I know who you bought it from. The LR community is pretty tight here, but I moved to Tucson in 2004 so I may not know them.

Is the radio in the back just sitting in the basket, or tied down in some way? I can't easily put it there, anyway, as that is where the stove is.

As a fellow metal dash owner, I was wondering if you had any photos of how you mounted your radio on the inside? I have a few decisions to make.

Thanks, James
